PPKAS Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2016 Celebration – 15 July 2016

Hari Raya literally means ‘celebration day’, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the day that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of dawn-to-sunset fasting. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is considered one of the most important celebrations for Muslims. Hence, in conjunction with this festive day, PPKAS has organized the PPKAS Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration Day on the 15th of July 2016 at the School of Environmental Engineering. All the staff, family members and students were invited to the event.

Prior to the event which was held at 4 pm, a ‘gotong-royong’ or a mutual cooperation among the staff was conducted in the morning. The gotong-royong involved the making of traditional cuisine specifically eaten during Hari Raya which is lemang and rendang. Apart from that, there’s also lamb barbequing, dishes such as satay and lontong prepared by the staff. The food was definitely joyous and delicious.

Back to the event, games and ‘duit raya’ giving sessions were among the favourite activity chosen by the children. But of course, the meal would be the favourite among the adults as the food was undeniably delicious.

All in all, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a joyous celebration that involves happy feasting with friends and family members, and greeting each other with ‘Selamat Hari Raya’.
