1st International Built Environment Undergrad Research Competition (BEURC)
The Department of Building Surveying, University of Malaya had organised the 1st International Built Environment Undergraduate Research Competition (BEURC) on 7th of March 2016 at Pullman Hotel, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
This competition was also an advanced programme in continuation of the annual conducts of Building Surveying Undergraduate Research Competition (BSURC) since 2013. Therefore, this year, the 3rd BSURC in also embedded in the 1st BEURC, aiming to explore more diversified research areas.
The School of Environmental Engineering (PPKAS) UniMAP had sent one participant; Jason Goh Kah Sheng, a final year student from Civil Engineering Programme to take part in this competition. The research topic was “Recycle Materials as Industrialised Building System(IBS) Internal Partition”. The student was guided by his supervisor, Dr. Hj. Umar Hj. Kassim, Dr. Afizah Ayob and Dr. Nasrul Hamidin. Jason had won the best poster category under the sub theme Engineering and Construction Management, bearing a cash prize of RM 300 and a special certificate from the competition organizers (Universiti of Malaya).
This program is a very beneficial exposure to the students and it is hope that more participant can take part in similar programs in the future.
